Job Title: Social Listening Consultant
Contract Duration: 1 August 2026 – 30 November 2026 (4 months)
Consultant Fee: PKR 350,000/month.
Job Description
The Social Listening Consultant will support UNICEF and EPI KP by generating timely, actionable insights from digital platforms during the pre-campaign period (August–October 2026) and the in-campaign period (November 2026). The consultant will conduct structured monitoring across the digital spaces identified in the digital ecosystem mapping for KP, identify emerging narratives and misinformation, and provide UNICEF with rapid, decision-ready insights. The consultant will work closely with the Immunization Manager and the Immunization team to ensure that monitoring outputs inform communication priorities and risk-mitigation actions throughout the HPV campaign cycle.
The consultant’s work will strengthen UNICEF’s situational awareness by providing continuous monitoring, early warning signals, and integrated analysis of HPV-related conversations across KP’s digital landscape.
1. Structured Social Listening Across Mapped Digital Spaces
- Conduct structured, ongoing social listening across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, WhatsApp networks, and other digital spaces identified in the digital ecosystem mapping for KP.
- Monitor caregiver and influencer conversations related to HPV vaccination, including emerging rumours, misinformation, concerns, and sentiment shifts.
- Identify recurring questions, high-engagement narratives, and patterns relevant to HPV uptake in KP.
- Track influential accounts, group administrators, moderators, and digital actors shaping HPV-related perceptions.
- Produce weekly listening summaries highlighting key themes, risks, opportunities, and recommended response considerations.
- Flag urgent misinformation or harmful narratives to UNICEF for rapid corrective action.
- Synthesise digital listening with partner listening outputs, media monitoring reports, helpline feedback, and community feedback reports.
- Provide integrated insights that reflect the full ecosystem of public concerns and information needs in KP.
2. Rapid Risk Escalation
- Immediately alert UNICEF to misinformation spikes, harmful narratives, or viral rumours requiring urgent response.
- Provide concise, actionable notes to support rapid decision-making during pre-campaign, campaign, and crisis-communication periods.
3. Integrated Analysis
- Combine digital listening findings with insights from partner listening, media monitoring, helpline data, and community feedback.
- Identify cross-platform patterns, narrative drivers, and shifts in sentiment relevant to HPV vaccination in KP.
- Provide monthly integrated analyses summarising key trends and communication implications.
4. Documentation, Reporting, and Knowledge Management
- Maintain structured trackers of monitored platforms, identified narratives, misinformation trends, influential accounts, and escalated risks.
- Log all insights systematically to support continuity and institutional memory.
- Produce weekly social listening reports and monthly integrated analyses.
- Prepare a final synthesis report summarising narrative trends, misinformation patterns, high-risk moments, and recommendations for future HPV communication phases in KP.
Minimum Qualifications & Competencies
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, media studies, social sciences, public health, or a related field.
- A master’s degree is an asset but not required.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in digital monitoring, social listening, online community analysis, or related fields.
- Demonstrated experience tracking online conversations and identifying emerging narratives, misinformation, and sentiment trends.
- Experience working with public health programmes or development partners is an advantage.
- Experience engaging with online communities, group administrators, or digital actors is desirable.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of social media dynamics and online community ecosystems across Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
- Ability to conduct structured social listening using manual monitoring methods or social-listening tools.
- Ability to maintain structured trackers, logs, and documentation systems.
- Strong analytical skills for synthesising digital insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Ability to identify patterns, risks, and emerging narratives across diverse digital spaces.
Language Skills
- Fluency in English and Urdu is required.
- Knowledge of Pashto is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of additional regional languages is an asset.
