Facilitation skills are vital for development
professionals enabling him or her to access the tacit
knowledge of a group, allowing them to creatively brainstorm
ideas, analyze problems, rank and group complex forms of
information, and make decisions. Development professionals
who are directly involved in project implementation are
engaged in facilitating Focus Group Interviews, Individual
interviews, Group Discussions, Facilitating Session with
community in their day to day work. Further effective
facilitation skills of staff set the right direction of the
project. Research shows that most of the Civil Society
Organizations (CSOs) invites outsiders to facilitate such
kind of activities because of lack of capacity of staff of
the CSOs. It is imperative for human and programme
sustainability of CSOs that their implementation staff
should be trained in facilitation skills to extract right
information from stakeholders. This training is designed to
equip CSOs staff of such skills so that they can facilitate
these kinds of activities independently.
